Project in collaboration with Camila Diaz Siles and Cláudia Rosas Rodríguez.
Getting dressed every morning is a task which most people take for granted. It responds to a basic necessity of covering our bodies, to protect them from the elements, to fit into society, to express ourselves and more. It's a task that a lot of people take for granted, but for the blind community it creates a lot of challenges. Fashion in itself is a very visual discipline, which creates an accessibility gap for them.
Iris is a project that looks to make that gap a little bit smaller. The solution proposed is an app that can help blind and visually impaired users with a lot of different fashion related situations.
For the visual identity it was key to have accessibility of low vision users in mind. For that reason the color palette was kept simple and with a high contrast and the font selected was Atkinson Hyperlegible, a font designed specifically to improve legibility for low vision individuals.
The main architecture includes 5 sections:
- IRIS voice assistant: A voice-user interface with an AI assistant that can respond to several types of questions and situations.
- My wardrobe: where the app can keep track of all the items input by the user.
- Scanner: using the camera and voice guided instructions the user can get a detailed description of a piece of clothing.
- Favourites: where the user can save items of outfits that they like particularly.
- Profile: to handle the account and preferences.
